    Hello,

    When i click on Shutdown, Windows closes on open programs then shows Shutting Down and that's where it remains even if i leave the Laptop alone for hours, i return and just see "Shutting Down", I can't install updates because it won't shutdown

    Bezee,
    And if you close the programs yourself, before shutting down your computer?

    Close all open programs, then shutdown.

    One more favor: When you get ready to shutdown, Close all programs, then WIN | type TASK MANAGER | ENTER | APPLICATIONS tab Are any programs shown there in the applications tab? WIN = key with microsoft logo on top.

    Let's try a System Restore point from before the problem appeared.

    RESTORE TO A PREVIOUS SYSTEM RESTORE POINT
    1) WIN | type SYSTEM RESTORE | ENTER | NEXT
    | Choose a different restore point radio button | NEXT
    2) Show more restore pointscheckbox (lower left)
    3) Highlight the desired restore point
    4) Scan for affected programs(lower right)make a note of affected programs
    5) CLOSE | NEXT | FINISH

    WIN = key with the wavy Microsoft flag on top.
    ============================================

    You have restore points unless you've used one of those super-duper clean your computer, etc programs.
    Win 7 automatically generates them.

    Just restored to my oldest restore point (3 Days ago) and still having the same issue. Thinking back, I probably had this issue before then but i thought nothing of it and assumed it would fix itself.
