How do I know if I'm installing 64-bit or 32-bit version of Windows 7?

I have 2 computers one runs Win7 Pro 32-bit (netbook) and the other Win7 Pro 64-bit (desktop).

I did a clean re-install on my desktop and inadvertently used the 32-bit version. I went through the whole process, including all the updates (!!) and registering the license before realizing that I installed the wrong version.

Now, I'm going through the whole process again using the correct version.

During the installation, is there any indication as to which version you are installing? I totally understand that this was completely my fault and due to my negligence, however, is there anything during the install that says you're installing 64-bit or 32-bit?

    Thanks for satisfying my curiosity.

No, there is nothing in the installer that indicates which one it is. You would have to know by the label on the disc.

Look in the source directory for starter.

There isn't a starter in the 64bit installer.

If it doesn't give you an option of 32 bit or 64 bit, the installer disk will not allow you to install the other.

    thanks everyone.
so, basically, there's no indication once the installation process has begun.
    should there be?

Only if the installer disk is capable of installing either version.
