    Shortcut icon problem

    Hi everyone,

Itīs about a month I started to have problem. When I create shortcut icon on my desktop everything is OK. But when I restart computer icon is missing. Old icons remain. When I create new folder on the desktop there is no problem. I really donīt know how to fix it.

Iīll be happy for all your request.

Hello Katzino, and welcome to Seven Forums.

Could you post a screenshot showing the missing shortcut icon to better help determine what I think may the issue? :)

I just create new shortcut icon on my desktop. Now Iīll restart my PC.

After restart new icon disappeared. Old icon is still on same place. If I try to create another icon I have same problem. Any Idea?

    Thank you for reply :)

Nope, not what I thought it may be.

As a test, use step 4 in OPTION ONE of the tutorial below to unhide your hidden files to see if the shortcut appears as faded on your desktop or in your C:\Users\(user-name)\Desktop folder.
If not, then test by turning of the System Maintenance Troubleshooter.

So I did both tests. The shortcut (Microsoft Visual Studio) donīt appears as faded. It looks like other icons. Only faded icon on my desktop are desktop.ini and Thumbs.db

    Here is the screen:

So the missing icons are on your deskop after you set hidden files to show?

Is you C:\Users\(user-name)\Desktop folder faded by chance?

If so, then see if this may help:
    • Open a elevated command prompt
    • Type the command below, but using I guess Plocha for your translation of Desktop in the command instead, and press Enter.
      • attrib +r -s -h "%USERPROFILE%\Desktop" /S /D
    • Use Step 5 in OPTION ONE of this tutorial to not have hidden files show anymore to see if the missing shortcuts still show on the desktop.
