Solved How to define task to run when computer wakes from sleep

Using Task Scheduler, is there any way to define a task that will run whenever the computer wakes up from sleep?

I can't seem to find that as an option under Triggers.

Windows 7 x64
Look on the 'conditions' tab. There is a 'Wake the computer to run this task' check box.

Hello sevendo,

I've never done what you want before, but
I just tried this and it worked for me...the event task triggered on a wake up.

Set up the task trigger to begin on "On an Event"

Create a "Custom Event Filter" with
Event Level: "Information"
Source: Power-Troubleshooter
Event ID: 1 (The system has resumed from sleep)
Below is my screen print for the Custom Event Filter

I set up my test to run WMP...
Depending on what your event task needs to do, there may be more to it such as security/permissions considerations.
I don't know if there are any more event-id's for "wake up"...i see event id 1 for my last wake up...

If the approach suggested by Saintor will work for you, that may be simpler.

need to define task that will run whenever computer awakens

That isn't what I want.

I don't want to wake the computer to run a task.

I want to define a task that will run whenever the computer wakes up for whatever reason.

Did you try setting up a task like mine in Post #3?
This works for me - the task runs whenever the PC wakes up.

I was replying to Saintor that what he suggested wasn't what I was looking for.

I haven't yet tried your approach, but I will and I'll let you know if it works for me.
