Going to sleep with apps still working

I have RTM x64 installed on my computer and have sleep set for 15 minutes, BUT when Windows 7 goes to sleep, it ignores the fact that there is application working and does it anyway.
This happens even when Kaspersky is doing a full scan, and also encoding video with Ripbot.
Any ideas on how to fix this.

You cant FIX this. It does what its made to do, Sleep fuction Suspends the execution of the current thread until the time-out interval elapses.(msdn) that means it stops the entire Apllication Runnings and goes to sleep. Just like we have a quick nap as soon as someone taps up we can getup quickly. The same idea is here too.

Used mainly for low power consumption and quick login when you dont use your machine. If you really want to Lock your computer with applications running while your out, then use the WinKEY + L to Lock the computer. It locks the computer and takes you to the Login screen where you can enter the password and log in back.

So you cant use Sleep/StandBy to make your apps run and lower the power usage together. The idea is Sleep Turns off the main power lines in most parts of your machine exept RAM so you can log back in with a click.

Hey Crypto WinKEY + L doesnt work. Set Ripbot working then go WinKEY + L and it still goes to sleep.

We read Cryptos post completely differently. He is not telling locking the computer is delaying the sleep until your applications are no more running; he's telling to use locking instead of sleep if you want to leave your computer to do background tasks, because there's nothing you can do to delay sleep when it's set. Even if you have applications running it's going to sleep after set time.

You are welcome, mate. No I think I'm going to do exactly what it says in the topic of this thread: Going to sleep with apps (backup) still running!
    It's 3AM here, I'm tired.
