    Win7 Home Premium Acer Restore?

I've been a lurker here off and on when an answer was needed but now I need to acutally ask something.

Here's my situation (if this is in the wrong forum I apologize ahead of time)

I have an Acer 7741z Win 7 Home Premium. While working the other day it pooped out on me. I've tried several options (which I will list in a moment) all of which have failed.

    Boot from HDD: Read error
Boot from rescue disk loads to black screen and movable cursor then hangs.
Restore from image: I've hit F10 and Alt + F10 neither do anything.
ERD Commander loads to Windows Screen then BSOD.

My logic tells me if it was the HDD the files would not be readable but they are. (I don't remember what Live CD I used to get at them I've been through so many)

If it was my MBoard I wouldn't be able to run the live CD I'm running

If it was the HDD controller there would obviously be the controller error on boot.

Does ANYBODY PLEASE have another suggestion? (preferably one that works )

Check the hard drive with the manufacturer's diagnostic tools.

Did you create the Recovery DVDs so if you have to replace the hard drive you can restore the computer to it;s factory new state, or do you have a good image backup?
