    It sounds like the OS files were corrupted when the laptop died. Try these is the order listed, if nothing work, do the repair install but save all your personal data to another device first.
    System Restore

    User Profile Service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded.

    Repair Install

    7,

    Try to restore the computer to a time before your mother used it. Additionally, check for viruses with your fully updated antivirus. Let me know how that goes.

    You have no Restore Points to use, that's why the next button osn't available.

    You might give this a read to see if it might apply too.
    You receive a "The User Profile Service failed the logon

    heaven7,

    Doesn't look good.

    Boot into Safe Mode.

    Run CheckDisk

    Run System File Checker.

    That's the overview. Here's the nitty-gritty.

    1. Boot into safe mode
    BOOT TO SAFE MODE
    Ø Power down your computer.
    Ø Power up your computer.
    Ø IMMEDIATELY—Start tapping the SPACEBAR
    Ø When the Windows Boot Manager screen appears,
    Press the F8 key
    Ø The Advanced Boot Options screen will appear.
    Ø Using the down arrow key, highlight Safe Mode
    Ø Press the ENTER key.

    In shorthand,
    PowerUp | Spacebar until Windows Boot Manager
    | F8 | Safe Mode | ENTER

    ======================================================================

    Stay in Safe Mode and
    2. Run Check Disk

    WIN | type CMD | ENTER
    type following and hit Enter:
    CHKDSK %SYSTEMDRIVE% /R

    ========================================

    once again while in Safe Mode, run System File checker

    type following command and hit Enter:
    SFC /SCANNOW

    =================================================
    After all of this try to boot up normally and let us know the results please.
