I believe your Vaio has a hidden partition with recovery/repair options. You should have an "Assist" button above the keyboard on the right side. With the computer off, click Assist. It should open Vaio Care Rescue. From here you should have access to several repair options as well as a Recovery Wizard that can restore your machine to factory specs.

Another possibility is to turn your computer on and immediately start clicking the F10 key (top row of keyboard.) Keep clicking until Edit Boot Options window appears. If Edit Boot Options appears, click Enter and then select Recovery Wizard. If you want to return your machine to factory specs select Tools and click Start Advanced Recovery Wizard.

A third possibility is to try to access the Advanced Boot Options in Windws 7. Turn the computer on and immediately start clicking the F8 key. Keep clicking until the Advanced Boot Options screen appears. From here you have an option to repair your computer, access safe mode, etc.

This sounds like a serious problem with your Vaio since you can't access the usual recovery tools. There may be something on this support page (Vaio Care or Troubleshooting Guide) that can help. If not, you may want to contact Sony for some additional guidance.

    key4you,

Can you boot from CD or DVD?

Can you boot from a USB stick?

For example, if you had a MemTest86+ CD could you boot from it?
If you had PuppyLinux Cd, could you boot from it?
If you had a PartitionWizard CD, could you boot from it?
If you had any of those on USB stick, could you boot?

Enter BIOS setup by tapping the key given on first boot screen.

See if the HD is detected. If so it should be reparable.

You'll need to get a disk to boot: How to Boot your Computer from a Bootable CD or DVD

Then work through these steps for Troubleshooting Windows 7 Failure to Boot.
