Windows 7 encrypted file ?!

    Windows 7 encrypted file ?!


    Am i totally screwed ??! i had a spread sheet on my old hdd and i stupidly did the file properties/encrypt option (the file name went green) i have just got a new ssd and have installed windows 7 back on it..... now my excel file wont open !!! am i without hope ??

    or can this be fixed, as i could sure do with the info in the spread sheet !!!!

    Do you still have the original drive? If so, reinstall and boot from it then decrypt the file.

    If you have the original drive, as Rich replied, start there.

    However, DuckDuckGo or Google are your friends: search for "how to decrypt an excel file" and check the first six or eight returns (found some good stuff).

    Unless you have the key which is part of the old windows installation and user account. The file is good as gone.
