My computer doesn't show asian characters...

My computer doesn't show asian characters...including languages like Hindi, Arabic, Chinese(all), Japanese, Korean, Gujarati etc....

I have many files in these languages but because of problem it shows only boxes in file names....

There is no problem in displaying characters in browsers and word processors...

Sometimes it shows all characters correctly but sometimes it doesn't. After reboot it shows them correctly, but not every time.

I'm currently using Windows 7 Ultimate.

I'm just guessing, but it sounds like you may need to install the appropriate language packs.
You can usually do that though Windows update, with Ultimate.

I think language packs are not problem...other pc shows correctly and after restart currently my pc also showing them correctly!! I'm not sure after another restart it will show them correctly...

language packs in ultimate changes UI language you dont need them to be ble to see asian characters.

first of all what type of documents (txt, doc, html, etc) are you looking at and what encoding it uses?

I don't know about encoding but I've some literature(Word docs, but it is not problem, all characters looks perfect) and music in those languages. File names are in different language. File names appears as boxes. Problem is in displaying file names.

You may try to delete the file FNTCACHE.DAT in windows\system32 and restart. If the boxes appear again out of nowhere delete that file again. This solution fixed my problem with the boxes. I used to have this problem, now it's solved.

I'm having the same problem as well; unicode boxes are showing until restart - and I didn't delete anything, so I'm not sure if that's a good solution. I read somewhere that it had to do with a recent update, but I'm not sure which one. If someone could pinpoint it for us, that'd be great.

It's safe to delete FNTCACHE.DAT, it will be recreated automatically after a restart.
