Qustion about RAM memory for my laptop.

My laptop is 64bit and has 4GB of memory. I was thinking of upgrading to 8GB or 16GB. Would it worth it to have 16GB of memory on a laptop? Should I just get 8GB? 16GB sure sounds like a lot.

It's not even worth moving from 4 to 8 unless you can establish that you currently are using all of the 4 you now have.

More RAM isn't going to magically make anything faster in and of itself.

Very few people use all of 8 and thus might need 16.

I rarely if ever use over 3 so don't want more than the 4 I now have.

You would get much more bang for the buck with an SSD if you don't yet have one.

Changing the hardware in your laptop will most likely void your warranty as well. If you're still covered by a warranty, check with your manufacturer.

Changing RAM will not void your warranty. Of that I am very certain.

Depends where you're from, who handles the warranty, and who does the upgrade.
    Always worth checking.

You don't say what you want to use your laptop for. For most uses 4GB is enough. I have 8GB and even running a couple of Virtual Machines it rarely gets above 4GB in use.
