This notice will only appear if some sort of tampering is detected by the OS... it is not something that will randomly appear for no reason. At this point Im not sure that a re-arm command will work, as the OS is reporting your copy as Not Genuine ... you can try it but I wouldnt hold my breath...
Both my beta (7000) and RC1 (7100) are reporting as not genuine. 7000 is also reporting as expired when I try to active (I can not even attempt to activate the 7100).

My hard disk boot sector got trashed a while ago, and I used a utillity to rebuild the partion table. After that I had to use a repair on the XP partition to get booting back, but could not restore dual boot to Win7 until I found EasyBCD, which had an option to rewrite the vista boot loader.

Now I can boot into 7 again, but with the results described above. After login, black background only.

Do you still have the install media and valid Key from Microsoft, If so a repair install may preserve the majority of your existing install - I believe Brink has a tutorial on this site if you are not familiar with the proceedure
I will try this from the RC1 disc.

There's a possible chance that you installed an ISO with a crack inside...

where did you get this ISO file?

    Edit:
Or some other person that you share your computer installed some crack without your knowledge...

How is it possible to do the repair if in-fact he cannot do anything in his win7 install. The tutorial states that he needs to run set up exe from within win 7. Just asking for my own knowledge?

    Hi larry,

I think the RC will do an upgrade install direct from the disk as long as it can identify the OS present on the HDD, (my fresh installs were always from the disk and all offered me the upgrade option, If I had left the OS on the drive - and I did a couple of upgrade installs over existing builds with issues and they all worked), - even in this state there should be enough of the OS left to repair - although nothing is guaranteed

No, again it is not a crack. I got this iso from microsoft.

I tried the "repair" option after booting from the install disc, no joy.

It does give me an offer to "get genuine" or "ask me later". If I do "get genuine" though it comes up with "an error has occurred". Code is 0x80070005, "Access is denied." Access to what it does not say.

I can try booting the install disc and instead of going through repair select upgrade ... will let you know what happens.

    Barman, I'll drink to that.
Well I was having the same problem a few installs back, so I tried the repair install and remembered having to start from within the os. The repair did not work so I clean installed anyway, it was a test machine so no big deal. As the song goes its 5 oclock somewhere. Cheers!

Nope, upgrade does not work if you booted from the install CD. It's clean or nothing.

Thanks everyone for the responses. Here are some answers to your questions/comments:

    1) it is not a crack, it is rc1 build 7100 from microsoft.

    2) it was activated after install, but never renewed (the 30 days at a time thing)

    ...suggested finding a 7600 ...
I have been lost throughout this thread. Perhaps I have missed something fundamental.

Build 7100 does not have the 30 day restriction and requires no renewal. Build 7600 does have this restriction.

The reported problem, with it's attestation to "no crack", is inconsistent with the reported phenomenon.

Build 7600 is not legally available from sources outside of MS distribution channels.

I have been using the RC Build 7100 since its release. Activated with one of the 15 keys, has never expired.

I have other test boxes and have never lost data as it always gets saved to Windows.old on the C: drive. My last experiment really surprised me when other folders I had created on the C: drive also appeared with Windows.old after a reinstall?

The OP should be able to reinstall 7100 with previous data saved to Windows.old. Anything else ... "Does not compute".
