Probably the easiest way to solve this would be to boot from another OS and running WinDirStat from there. That way it would be able to properly report the "unknown" size and categorize them properly.

You would have to burn a DVD or write to a USB flash drive to boot from. I'll see if I can find you links to bootables that already include WinDirStat.

Did you ever run WinDirStat with "Run as Administrator"?

Pretty sure WinDirStat is included in Hiren's in this download:

    Download Hiren

And info for installing on a USB flash drive:

Few questions I haven't seen, what is the make, model and speed of your drives? Also, in your BIOS, is the hard drive set for AHCI or Compatibility?

The hard drive is set to AHCI, should i try compatibility, what exactly does that do??

I think you're probably good with it set to AHCI; it's probably best to leave it that way. See more about it here: AHCI : Enable in Windows 7 / Vista

I think the best bet to resolve this quickly and safely is to try what I posted earlier. Boot from a DVD/CD so that the OS on the hard drive isn't running and hiding those files from WinDirStat. That way WinDirStat will be able to categorize those files properly.

So finally getting back to this. I have tried booting with Hiren a couple times. It looks fairly helpful for other thigns but I haven't been able to find WinDirStat on it???

I have seen other people with Lenovos having issues with restore points takeing up the memory. I have the OneKey system recovery on my computer, I haven't been able to find any files as yet(not really sure where/how to look). Tried to unstill but it did not allow for that.

You've got to boot mini-XP and you'll find it in the menus (probably in a "file management" category).

You might want to check out the following tutorial. It contains a link to a program that you can download and use within w7 to browse contents of the System Volume Information folder.
