Need help with something I cant really explain with my router! :/

I need someone to explain to me how to set up a seciond computer in my home so that it is its own administrator as far as internet/wifi settings and being able to keep its own connection no matter what the other pc does. Is this possible? I was told it was. I have a ralink wifi adapter. I have internet access, but sometimes it gets shut off... I wanted to make it so when the other pc changes settings to "no internet access" it wont affect my pc. Can I do this? Someone told me I would need my mc id??? I have that info... Please, if someone knows anythig... respond! Even if I make no sense or what I am saying isnt possible or you need ore info!!! Thank you so so much!! :)

Do these computers get disconnected at the exact same time of day?
    e.g. 11pm each night.
If yes, then it does sound like the router was setup to block internet access at a certain time each day. if the time varies a lot - then it is probably not a router/blocking issue.

If he selects the option to block all computers, then I'm not sure that there is not much that you can do. If you will post the manufacturer and model number of the router, maybe we can figure out what path the help desk staff wanted you to take with that mac address.

Or you can change the password on the router and see how he takes it.

Is your father turning off the router with a physical switch or at the power point or just disabling the Internet via his computer or through the routers configuration page?

Does the router have wireless access?

Could you try to explain how they are currently connected, eg. modem to router or router with inbuilt modem, fathers PC connected to router and your PC connected to your fathers. Cable or wireless?

If he is not turning the router off physically or disabling the Internet through the routers configuration page then it sounds like you want both PC's connected directly to the router then one PC will not effect the other.
