I start my computer and get "No operating system found. Press Ctrl....

I start my computer and get "No operating system found. Press Ctrl Alt Deleteto restart" I think I set my C partition so it doesn't boot on it and boots on the Z partition which has nothing in it. Or unallocated space.

I think when i was trying to create a new partition in Windows 8 setup it screwed it up..... Because that was the last thing i did before i turned it off and got the message......

This is out of context without the previous information in your thread at Dynamic Disk conversion help (HxD hex editer shows 01C2 is a 0??) - Windows 7 Forums.]

You last reported there that after recoversion to Basic, Win8 was trying to boot on another letter. I gave you the fix for that just now.

Has this latest failure happened ever since you reconverted to Basic disk, or just since trying to create a Win8 partition? How did you attempt this exactly? Did you then proceed to install Win8 to the partition as you should to have it auto-configure a Dual Boot? If not do that now.

Please post a camera snap of the Partition Wizard CD drive map with listings so that it isn't the size of a postage stamp.

Please answer the questions I asked you in detail so we have all of the pieces.

We also need the Partition Wizard bootable CD drive map and listings screenshot to see for sure - you used it to reconvert to Basic disk, correct?

But based on the installer's drive map you have somehow also converted System Reserved partition from Primary to Logical so that it can no longer be marked Active and thus loses System partition flag.

So boot into PW CD now to change the 100mb System Reserved to Primary: How to set partition as Primary or Logical.

Then rightclick>Modify it to Set to Active. Apply both steps.

NOw boot back into Win7 DVD installer to delete the last two partitions created by Win8 since it couldn't see any Active partition to install it's boot files upon.

Then create a new partition for Win8, format and click Next to begin install.

If Win8 again tries to create its own System Reserved boot partition, you'll need to delete it and then repair Win7 by running from it's DVD or Repair CD Startup Repair - Run 3 Separate Times until it starts and has it's System boot files intact on the 100mb System Reserved partition. Then Win8 should see an intact boot partition to write its files for the Dual Boot.

If you need a computer to burn the PW CD then how did you convert Dynamic to Basic?

Still waiting for answers to this and the other questions so we can help you best. This is not new to us as we get at least one of these conversion cases per week for three years - however this is the first I remember where Primaries were also tripped to Logical.

It has ruinous potential unless there is attention to detail in every step.

This is what happened i converted the disk to basic with easeus.... It worked fine and my computor could start fine. But then when i tried to install windows 8 on the Z partition it wouldnt let me.... So i tried formatting the Z disk. That didnt work either so i went back onto windows 7 and deleted the Z partition.... I was going to try to create a new partition using the windows 8 setup. But when i created the partition and tried installing windows 8. It still didnt work. So i turned off my computer (was about to boot windows 7 so i could fool around with easeus and try to let windows 8 install.) But when i turned my computer back on i got the error message "no operating system found" Note : i had windows working and booting up after converting my disk to basic. It was when i tried installing windows 8 it messed up...

Sorry i will try to get the disk map posted soon...
