No Windows login on bootup? Help Please

Hi guys, so to start I was getting ready to leave and I click shut down computer and jumped in the shower after I got out I realized my comp never shut down it was like frozen at the blue screen saying Logging off.

So I just click the power button and it just down fine and I left, now a couple hours later I come home and sart my pc up and it starts up fine Shows the Dell logo the f2 / f12 options says resuming windows 7 and all the normal things then when it should go to the blue login screen its just black.

I tried rebooting the computer my press the power button atleast ten times and the same thing. I just ran all my security programs yesterday also and had no problems show up so I don't think its a malware problem if it could even be that.

Any help would be greatly helpful thanks

    Hello Karizma,

You might boot to Advanced Boot Options and select the Last Know Good Configuration (advanced) option to see if that may be able to get Windows booted for you back to normal.

If not, then you may give a system restore at boot a try with a restore point (if available) dated before this happened may help.

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn

    Thanks for the reply,

I have tried so many times spamming f8 as fast as I could and for some reasons it just goes to the resuming windows screen, is there any other way to get to the advanced boot options?

Now a side question I don't have recovery discs, or a reinstalltion disc, this comp was a prebuilt bought in may. If I were to email Dell about a reformat discs would they help at all?

Alright seconds after I post that, I tried it again and pressing f8 didnt go through so I shut it down right at the resuming windows screen which I never did I always waited for the black login in screen, but this time when I booted it said something about problem with last boot and to delete saved boot data and restart or something like that.

And this time it said starting windows instead of resuming and it works thank god, thanks for the reply again this forum is always very helpful

That's great news Karizma. I'm happy to hear that it's booting into Windows now. To be safe, you might consider backing up anything that you do not want to lose.

Depending on your model of Dell, one of the links from Dell below can help show you how to create a set of "System Recovery Discs" to be able to do a factory recovery of Windows 7 with in case something should happen to your recovery partition.
