    "a disk read error has occered" please help


    alright i've been haveing this probem for awhile and it evolved from a seperate problem all together and now i got a disk only find out its an upgrade so i want to know how to or if its possible to use the disk from start up and i not whats the best fix for this problem.

    A bit more info would be helpful. :)

    Does this disk contain the operating system? Is the "disk read error" showing up when you try to boot the computer? Is that what you mean by "its an upgrade"? That the OS was upgraded from XP or Vista to Windows 7? Or was it upgraded from one version of Windows 7 to another? Was this disk original equipment (originally installed) on the computer or is it from another machine? Can you post a screen shot of your expanded disk management screen so all disks and partitions are clearly shown?
