Your gaming experience will improve once you solve the immediate concerns. Some games however simply do crash at will on their own. Often that's a coding error no one can help you with except the game manufacturer releasing a patch for it.

Black screens and hard boots are common to a number of game mods for Steam driven titles! Once a mod if not regular game title locks up the screen goes black. This is where some game process tries to load into a system protected memory address and kaboom! you're done for! And it won't matter if details are set high or low in the game settings.

The first things however is being able to rule out any hardware fault as being the actual cause. This is why a good hard drive diagnostics program and a good run of memtest will tell if the drive or memory has a serious problem. The Check Disk apparently tried to fix a number of drive errors when you saw a good 2hr. run afterwards.

OH MY GOD. I just did the extended run of the diagnostics tool you gave me the link of and it had ran for 2h +. Some freezes in that time but nothing serious. And then suddenly when 2-3 minutes were remaining. THE STUPID COMPUTER CRASHED, the screen went black again and said that Power saving mode and computer crashed.... So yeah... I don't think it is the game's fault anymore... well I'm starting to do the clean install now and do everything else you suggested. Then I will be back.

EDIT: Oh I also for some reason forgot to mention in the first post that sometimes, like 1/5 sometimes more times I turn on the computer it just gets stuck on the completely first "page" The one where it shows my processor and memory... when it does get stuck there it gets stuck at the memory part. it just displays memo instead of memory and nothing else appears and I have to restart. Also now that I did clean install (This could be because I haven't installed any updates yet or drivers. Do displays/monitors have drivers?) sometimes when I turn on the computer the screen just shuts off too and I have to restart.

It sounds to me like you have hardware problems. You'll need to test your RAM - Test with Memtest86+
now for 5-6 passes or overnight. In addition swap your RAM sticks checking that there is no debris in the slots.

It's problematic that you cannot run a full HD diagnostics scan. If it ran two hours then it likely found errors it was repairing. I would keep running it until it completes. What does the Quick Scan report?

What you're looking for in logs is chronic repeat errors to google their text to find out how serious they are and how others have solved them.

Check your Power Options in Control Panel to make sure they are set at default. I'd use Balanced Plan at defaults, maybe set Sleep at 30 minutes, Hibernate at an hour, enable Hybrid Sleep. See how these work.

Check your ACPI power settings in BIOS setup. Reset BIOS to optimal defaults.

The bios setting generally used is the "User Defined" option in the bios setup. For running any diagnostics program you would want the high performance plan for not seeing the system put to sleep or hibernation as well as not turning hard drives off after 20min. Setting the "turn off display after..." setting is optional.

The lag and stall at post time, that's when you see the black screen listing cpu speed, how much memory is installed, and listing the drives, can be from a few different things. On any system a year or older the one common item that will cause lights to flash and then nothing until tripping the supply's breaker, not starting at all, or sudden unexpected problems while booted in Windows is the lithium battery on the main board itself.

On the 2yyr. old board I dropped a fresh battery on when making the latest upgrade and found it at 3.2v instead of 3.3v. On another board that sat around unused for two years the battery read 3.0v showing it just being on the board was draining. The battery maintains cmos information as a rule unless the bios sees a hard drive backup of the currrent setting changes you have.

I suspect the indications so far however you have described tend to lean heavier on the drive while still giving it a good of memtest to confirm or rule out any memory problems is still a good idea just the same. The option to run memtest is on the 7 dvd when going to run the repair tools in case you are not able to burn memtest to a live cd.

Okey.. my pc is toast. Last night it kept crashing and I could run no scans... or well not till they were completed. mbytes found no viruses and the Quick Scan didnt even start, now I cant see what error it gave me too since last night after all the crashes it took me like 20 tries to get the computer to start (Screen stayed in sleep mode) and when it did it gave me an error about CPU.. something like "CPU has been somethingsomething or has been changed" and I had an option to continue by pressing f1 or reboot. When continued it got to the starting windows part but when the blue screen should have came the display went off again and computer crashed.... I tried for about an hour to get the pc to run again but no help.... My dad said he will contact a friend who knows about stuff like this and if he cant do anything then idk... I hope I get it fixed somehow or get a new computer... Well thank you guys for all your help and I will likely be back here as soon as I get it fixed/get a new computer so that I can keep it safe and avoid all problems like these. Thanks again and bye! (This was posted from my moms laptop)

Edit: I was not able to complete the memtest either since I tried to run the HD Diagnostics scan first.

See if you get into BIOS setup at boot to check temperatures, if the HD is detected.

Open the case to see if the processor heat sink is clear of dust buildup, remove and blow it out, replace the thermal paste. Google for a video on how to do this on your model.

Then reset BIOS to defaults, if necessary using the jumper or CMOS battery: Clear CMOS - 3 Ways to Clear the CMOS - Reset BIOS

If you can regain enough functionality then run the memtest and HD diagnostics.

Besides the battery on the board which will cause power on type problems the supply could be wimping out or you could have a board issue of some type like a bad cap or failing chipset.

This is what happened on the last build here where at first battery change, supply found dead, and then board also suspected. When both supply and board were replaced nothing! Now I have to suspect the cpu as well since the replacement board failed when two good supplies were tried out.

I blew out the dust (There barely was any) but I still cant even get the display to start.

Also, one day when I get it fixed/get a new computer is software called DriverPack Solution safe to use? I used that to get drivers on this computer. May that have caused any problems?

Driver programs are counterproductive in Win7 which is the first driver-complete OS in the installer and via optional Windows Updates. Any missing drivers after all Updates are done can be found on the Support Downloads webpage for the model computer or device.
