Hi
I was wondering how i can enable Raid-5 in my windows X64 professional ? _The button for raid 5 is greyed out right now and i wonder why ?

Have you got your three HDD all connected to 6GBs sata 3 ports as the sata 2 3GBs ports dont support RAID5
On my gigabyte mobo (different model) they are different colours think you should have 6 blue (the ones you want) and two white (dont plug to these)
Cant be sure on colours though so please double check
it was as you said, 6 blue and two white. I had a look and only the windows SSD drive and the DVD burner where plugged into the 2 whites ones.
How are you trying to activate raid, im not familiar with your mobo but normally would expect to do it through bios, there will prob be two or three bios`s on your machine normal mobo bios for hardware & boot stuff and possibly two more raid BIOSs which you access through a key combo after boot post screen, from memory on mine i think its a key + I for one & a key + J for the other, one will deal with sataII ports raid setup (white plugs) and one with sataIII ports raid setup (blue ones)
Sorry to a bit vague but i got a different giga mobo and havent used raid for a couple years on it
Ive enabled the Raid controller on the motherboard and "Support raid 5" to in the bios. I rebooted into windows, installed the raid controll driver but still the "Raid 5" box in the Computer management is grey when i have a look there, all 3 drives are converted to Dynamic drives to.
Afraid i havent got anything more to help you, all i can say is on mine all raid setup is done in raid bios, setup/partitioning/formatting etc, windows then just sees the drives setup in bios to install/put data on
PS when i mentioned system specs, click on your user control panel (user CP link top of the page) then click on edit system specs on the left menu of your CP then fill in your system details, this will enable other users to quickly see your details in this and all future posts
I managed to get it to work finally after consulting the manuall a few minutes and the only way to make a raid was with their own Raid controller program wich you started after the post screen, thanks for all your help :)
Also i was wondering... i made a raid 5 drive with 3 500GB drives but the totalt space on it is only 931GB, raid 5 is not supposed to take up over 500GB of space is it ?
