    Help with recovery

My neighbors computer crashed (blue screen wouldn't boot) she never made a recovery disk and of course had nothing that came with her computer. Shes running windows 7 and I was trying to do a system restore and wasn't able to get it to come up. (Forgot about the D partition)

I ended up putting a new copy of windows from my disk on hers just to get it up and running and did save the old windows but not sure where. But with using the disk she doesn't have her office which her daughter needs to do her school work. I tried to load mine and it says theres not enough memory to load. Even though I put another copy of windows on it is there a way to get back to the original going through the back up thats on the computer, or do I need to order the disks for it. Shes all worried as she talked to someone and they told her it would be 100.00 to fix and 200.00 for the disks. This lady has no money and I am sure I can get it back but just need the right steps to go thru. I didn't reformat anything so all info is still there.

If you can please let me know what u think I can do I would appreciate at.

Please provide the make and model number of the computer. You should be able to restore it to it's factory new state via a recovery partition on the hard drive.

According to the Getting Started manual, you press F11 during boot to start the Recovery Options.

Try that and see if it works.

    System recovery options
You should attempt a system recovery in the following order:
1 Through the hard disk drive, from the Windows 7 Start menu.
2 Through the hard disk drive, by pressing the F11 key on the keyboard during system startup.
3 Through recovery discs that you create.
4 Through recovery discs purchased from HP Support. To purchase recovery discs, go to
Hewlett Packard Technical Support - select a country or region and visit the Software & Driver downloads page for
    your computer model

If you've got it running "for now", what is the future course of action?

As you've no documentation for the machine and its software, I would get the product key for MS Office and any other paid-for software. You can use this: Belarc Advisor - Free Personal PC Audit, for software, hardware and security configuration information on your computer. Software license management, IT asset management, cyber security audits, and more..

And take a look/picture at the COA sticker on the machine, noting both w7 version and product key.

You might want to look at these steps for getting a perfect Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7
in case there are any remaining issues or you have the occasion to do one again.
