As I indicated in my previous post the Favorites folder is presently at the default location and the one in D:\ has been deleted. I ran the Restore_Default_Favorites_Location.reg but nothing happened. Is there a way to restore default contents in the Favorites?

Churin,

Did you also "Delete all Favorites folder, and type shell:Favorites in the Start Menu search line and press enter", then step 16 afterwards?

16. Log off and log on, or restart the computer to finish restoring the user folder location.
NOTE: Sometimes you may need to restart more than once for the changes to be applied.

Completely resetting IE8 may add the default Favorites back in the the folder if you have the folder fixed, but I have not tested it yet to be sure.

There were five subfolders which I could not delete. I did "shell:Favorites" but I did not know what that was for.
I reset IE8. I noticed that a couple of subfolders were added in the Favorites' folder after the reset. Then I tried relocating the Favorites but the same error message was returned again.

Churin,

Could you post screenshots of each of these Favorites folder locations and their properties pages? It may help determine what is happening.

When you use the paperclip icon the first time in a post, it should open a separate tab or window to upload the images at. Afterwards, you should be able to select them from the paperclip icon back in the edit post window.

Strange.

Well the first one at C:\Users\Kaz\Favorites looks fine since it as the Location tab in properties. The one on the D: drive is not correct though. As a test, create a new empty folder named Favorites on the D: drive, then select it when you move the location of the C:\Users\Kaz\Favorites from it's properties page. Hopefully that will do the trick for you.

Well, what you suggested is exactly what I have done many times by now. I originally used IEFavorites as the new folder name and it worked at that time. This time around I tried both IEFavorites and Favorites.
I tried relocating the Favorites on a different machine with which the Favorites has never been relocated, and found there was no problem doing it. I did the same thing for Vista(PC is a dual boot system) and now W7 and Vista share the same Favorites. This is how my main machine used to work before the present problem occurred.
What I can do for possible solution at this point is to restore W7 from its backup.
One more screen shot is attached for possible clue which shows two Favorites' folders one of which was added as a result of my attempt relocating the folder:

The problem has been resoled by restoring backup of W7. The Favorites could be relocated on the restored W7(The Favorites was at the default location when the backup was created).

The problem as indicated in its error message might have something to do with that I could never be able to delete those five subfolders either on Windows Explorer or on Internet Explorer. A message returned when I attempted to do that on Windows Explorer said the folder did not exist.
