Sending files (1200 pictures) to an email recipient

    Hello, All:

I desire to send about 1200 pictures from "pictures" in Windows 7 Home to an email recipient. Can this be accomplished? If so, how can I achieve this task. Are there any other ways to send this large file of pictures to an email recipient?

    Thank you.

    Welcome to the forum,

It would probably be easier to send a link to something like Microsoft SkyDrive - Online document storage and file sharing where you have uploaded your 1200 pictures.

There is a limit to the data that can be sent in one email and that limit is determined by your ISP. The only true way to get all 1200 pictures to your email recipient would be to put them on a flash drive...ie thumb drive or SD card or DVD and hand deliver or mail it. The other option is to upload your pictures to one to the free online picture storage services, like photobucket, flickr and share them.

Just put those photos in a folder , zip it, upload it in a file hosting site like Microsoft Skydrive as Derek suggested, or mediafire (I use it off and on) , and send the link via email.

Its very easy to email a content uploaded in mediafire. Upload it, when complete, it will give a link " share". click on it, you will get such a box ....

Click on the share button , you will get this ....
Sending files (1200 pictures) to an email recipient-2.jpg

Click on the email button .... fill up with your email id, recipients email id, your message, and click the send link button.

Hi James and welcome to W& Forums

Whilst sending pictures via email is certainly possible (they will be sent as an attachment), the sheer number might cause problems if you try to send them all at once. You will need to zip them up several at a time (the number depending on the individual sizes) into different folders and then send the folders. However, let's say that you can only zip up 10 at a time because of size restrictions and that you can only send one attachment per email. That would require 120 different emails, and it is possible that the recipient's email provider might pick up on the sheer number of emails coming from one address in a short period of time and block emails originating from your address.

An alternative would be to upload the images to a file sharing service, make the collection private if you wish, and send the desired recipient an email with instructions on how to access them from there.

http://photobucket.com/ would be a good choice. This also includes Album Privacy, meaning that you can set some, or all, of the photos that you upload to be viewable by all, private to you, or password protected (in which case they can be viewed by anyone who you give the password to).

what size is the pics folder.
you could use dropbox, depending on the size of the 1200 pics, if they are over 2gb then you need to get extra space as the free account only comes with 2gb.
if they are below 2gb you can upload them in a zip and send the public link to the recipient, they click the link to download, then they can unzip the folder.
or you could split the folders into several zips at 2gb each and when one gets downloaded you remove it from dropbox public and upload another

    Using Photobucket

I made several attempts to use photobucket, but all attempts failed. Can some here instruct about how to use, then load these pictures into photobucket for sharing. I have over 1200 photos that I wish to share.

The program (photobucket) asked to hold down the ctrl key for more photos, but once this key is depressed, nothing happens. Is there a procedure to perform this task?

Dang, I only desire to send my travel partner the pictures taken on our tour.

    Please help!

The size of the folder is over 4.3G's.

    Thank you.
