    desktop icons doesn't move

    Hi,
first of all, sorry for my bad english.

Yesterday i istalled Service pack 1 on my pc.

After that i found that i can't move any of my desktop icons. I don't know if there is a direct connection with the istallation of SP1.

Also i found that vlc doesn't properly. I have tried different version, but the problem is always the same: i can't move the video forward or back.
I don't know if this problem too is connected with the istallation of the SP1...

I don't know what to do...
    anybody can help me?

    thanks!

Hello asd, and welcome to Sevenforums!

You might consider uninstalling SP1: Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (SP1) - Uninstall - created by Brink
But then of course you won't have SP1 installed. I'd try disabling my antivirus, all other security software, and uninstalling programs that aren't needed, or that you can install again, just in case they are getting in the way, and then reinstalling it again. After you can reload everything.

You can also try creating a new user account, moving files to that new user account and hoping that somehow fixes the problem: Fix a corrupted user profile

If those are the only problems, you should be fine. The first should be easy to fix, though I don't know about the player. Have you tried reinstalling it completely with the newest version?

To attempt to fix the first problem, RIGHT-click the start menu toolbar, click properties. Click the Start menu toolbar, and click Customize... Scroll down to enable context menus and dragging and dropping, and make sure the box is checked. Click OK on both menus and test if it works.

You may try an upgradation of your ATI graphics driver.

If still not worked, download windows 7 professional 64 bit iso from Official Windows 7 SP1 ISO from Digital River « My Digital Life and perform a Repair Install using that one (your existing product key will work with it) .

uhm...i think windows 7 in italian is a bit different. I use this picture to understand better what you mean: Enable Context Menus and Dragging and Dropping in the Start Menu — MAXIMUMpcguides – Windows 7 tips, tricks, help, and how-to guides What i think is the analogous of "enable context menus and dragging and dropping"'s box on my windows 7 was already checked. One thing: i don't understand when you say "both menus"...i see only one menu. thank you anyway!

Then the previously mentioned repair install may be your only hope: desktop icons doesn't move

i can try to upgrade my ati driver, but i think if i have to download an iso, and then repair my windows 7 istallation, i prefer to use my backup created with HDClone. anyway, thank you too.

    Do it.

Only one argument will go against it that most probably that backup you are talking about is made on a non sp1 system, and that is not a desired situation.

The latest hotfixes should be installed there, otherwise it leaves security holes.
