HDD: Randomly Losing Big Amounts Of Disk Space.

Couldn't get anymore descriptive with the title, but I seem to be having a big problem. 2 days ago I had 111 gigs left on my computer. Then, yesterday my computer randomly went down to 45 gigs. I didn't download anything since I am on vacation and the internet here is really slow. This is the second time this problem has occurred. I've deleted backups, history, anything I could find but yet there's no explanation to over 50 gigs disappearing. This is the second time The first time I noticed this was when I had 12 gigs remaining! So could someone help me with this problem. I honestly need that disk space back. Because I just lost 5 gigs today as well!

Also I wasn't sure if I should have posted in General Discussion or Performance & Maintenance.

Try the following: WinDirStat - Permalinks to downloads and other content

It'll list your folders sorted by size, and you can drill into the folder structure to find offenders.

Make sure all of the "Show" items are selected under the Options dropdown menu.

You can try what F5ing mentioned in his post.

Alternatively, you can also compare the results you get with this nifty little program:-

    Hello Jacano,

In addition, you might check the items listed in the tutorial below to see if it may help you to find the culprit.

    Hope this helps,

I also used AVG PC Tuneup to scan for lots of space in other locations managed to get 5+ gigs back too.
