    explorer.exe freezing in time, won't open programs or update itself


    Hi all,
    My explorer.exe is bugging. I cannot open anything, even Windows Task Manager and it seems to be that it's frozen in time.
    Windows Task Manager is not open, and I have two icons in my tray for it, both frozen. Skype won't update itself, like, my friend, I was IMing him and I read the IM, and it's still saying I have a notification, on Skype AND on explorer.exe (Task bar wise). I'm very concerned because I would like to know if I have a virus. Please help!

    Hello YaYaBinks and welcome to Seven Forums.

    Couple of things you can try. Do you have a restore point going back to a date/time prior to these issues? If yes, try rolling back the computer.

    System Restore

    Another thing you can try is to see if you have any damaged or corrupt system files by running a system file checker scan from an elevated command prompt (option two.) If any problems are noted run the scan 3 times rebooting in between each scan.

    SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

    If the above doesn't work you could try going through these additional troubleshooting steps prepared by one of our Forum experts.

Whenever i try to open a program it tries to run it or save it. Even internet explorer itself wont open. How do i fix this. Please help. Turning off internet explorer fixes the problem but then i can't get on the internet.
Hi guys, I need a way to open and close a program, .exe for example, at a specific time and close it again at a later time. Are there any softwares for windows (especially W7) that does this? Or just a tweak for windows that would do the trick? Thanks.
