I need a list of core windows 7 system files. Can someone help me to find it?
Open a administrative command prompt, type:
List of every single core system file right there.Code:tree C:\Windows\Winsxs /F /A > C:\Users\Public\Desktop\winsxs.txt
What do you mean by "core files"? What's exactly what need to do?
You can find something by looking at the system32 directory of a fresh Windows install. Most DLLs there will be part of the kernel.
I am sorry, I was kind of desperate and didn't express myself clearly. I have few missing system files so I am getting bsod every time I try to load windows. One of those files was pagerfile.sys but I can't remember another one.
I know its kind of stupid but I can't see any other option right now but just to compare list of required files with mine. (I can access all my files with Ubuntu)
I already tried system recovery, but no results. fsc /scannow is not working either.
I do believe pagefile.sys is unique to each computer so just copying one from another PC likely won't get you anywhere. Have you tried safe mode?
It was probably a typo but just for clarification it's sfc /scannow. Also, the Forum tutorial suggests running the system file checker scan from an elevated command prompt and if problems are found to run the scan 3 times rebooting in between each scan.
SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker
It might also be possible to extract the files you need from a Windows 7 installation DVD. But the process is kinda long. It might actually be faster (and easier) to do a repair install which should preserve your user accounts, data, programs, system drivers etc.
