Grub boot error 15, file not found

Thank you all. I have tried my install disk but the grub won't let me boot from it whatever I try. I'll probably just end up reformatting the drive on another computer and try to track down what I can of my old data.

To answer your other questions, yes, I did leave my computer un-secure. It was in my hotel room while I was out playing tourist. After three tours to Iraq where I'd expect the possibility of being hacked, I didn't expect it in my hotel. I also didn't expect that someone who did hack my system would totally destroy my hard drive in the process so I'd know they'd been there. It's easy to freeze my credit so they can't steal much so why leave a trail? Doesn't make sense.

wow thats crazy! in a hotel room. Did you report it? He didn't intentionally leave a trail. This is left over during the uninstall and he probably thought he installed it and got stuff and then uninstalled it without a trace.

Or he might have tried to load up win7 afterwards and went "Oh Crap what do I do now...."

Check out the section on Super Grub Disk and Ultimate Boot CD you should be able to get rid of grub from there. and then run the install CD. That "should" work....

I had the same issue except my computer was working fine before I reset a fuse on the house. From there it booted with error 15 and went to grub4dos.
I just got done spending the last few hours restoring the ntldr and bootmgr on the drive.
What a mess!!
No one had physical access to the machine and I don't remember running anything out of the ordinary beforehand.
