I've Lost Control of My System :(

Hey all, In an attempt to secure my system one of the things i did was to rename the built-in administrator account and apply a password. While still logged in as me (administrator) i moved my account from the admin group to the power users group. I continued to make some other changes but at some point needed to reboot my system. I logged back in as myself and soon discovered that i couldn't launch executables or make changes to the system that required elevated privileges because i forgot to enable the built-in admin account (which is disabled by default). How do i fix this?

There are a couple of ways. Restore from a backup before the problem, or enabling the built in Admin account (tutorial on enabling in tutorial section). I would restore from a backup if available because you dont know what else has gone south.

Let us know if you need help with whichever path you choose

I would be interested to know if you can do any of these things - restore a backup, system restore or enable the administrator account - if you do not have administrative access to the system. I am guessing that you can't. The linux boot NT password utility should work on W7 I know it does on Vista.

The OP is asking the wrong question.

How do I log in as the (default hidden) Administrator?
