The computer has no floppy drive. I have removed the DVD and USB units. I have my PC from my company, and I am on vacation så I don't have access to my normal support. And since it is company-connected, I don't hav access to the installation DVD. And I have urgent work to take care of, that is why I try to solve my problems this way. Is there anything I can try on my own without the DVD. Any theories about why the problem has arised?
first of all, are you sure you try to boot from harddisk?!!! Put it on top of BIOS "boot priority" list. If possible, define it as the only possible boot device.

If the PC is from your company, and they own it, then I would suggest you use extreme caution when attempting any repair. Many companies use custom installs and attempting to overwrite the existing installation could be even more problematic. You should have some means of contacting the support team that provided you the unit and contacting them would be the more practical solution.
