    second hand pc

im going to buy a second hand pc,its custom built and 1 year old.
What i needed to know was other than take the side of the case and remove parts, how would i find the serial numbers etc?
It comes with no boxes or manuals
As im still paying a lot of money,i need to know that the components havent been swopped as they are under warranty and the person selling hasnt put older parts in and kept the newer parts,eg,cpu and graphics card.

Well most of the Motherboards have the serial numbers on the then. The video card should have a sticker on them with the model and serial number on them. With the CPU I would boot the computer up and look to see what the BIOS says the CPU is and it should show a serial number. Not sure about the CPU.

    mountainlion,
First off welcome to SF. The warranty likely won't get passed and don't stress too much as if this computer has been running for a year it's likely fairly solid. We would like to see pictures and get updated spec's as you dig into your machine and additional advice will come.
Many great free programs available but two to suggest are SIW and Speccy both will give you detailed information about the components and system spec's.

How much memory and what brand? The components, that I can see, look good; ie, power supply and video card.

Manditory clean every six months and yes after a year it's going to be a mess especially if the fans are filterless.
How much are you considering spending? Just curious.
