Windows 7 Error Recovery help please

Yesterday my computer was attacked by the Live Platinum Virus, I bought PC Tools and that removed the virus from my computer.

Now I am having trouble on starting Windows. I get the "Windows Error Recovery" screen on startup or restart. And now I also get a blue screen that says something about "dumping files" at the bottom, it goes by so quickly I can't read everything.

I've done some reading on the internet and most say that my registry has been compromised and to buy a registery cleaner. Is this correct? I am afraid to do anything, I don't want to lose what is on my harddrvie.

I went to system restore and chose a restore point but then was afraid if I did that I would any programs I had installed, like the PC Tools I just installed last night.

I am not to computer savy so any help will be much appreciated, thank you!

Work through these steps for Troubleshooting Windows 7 Failure to Boot.

You should run the bootable AV scan to make sure all infection is out. Also post up the infection name in our Security forum for specialized scans for it, or google to learn this.

Once clean you may need to repair System files and/or the boot. Everything you need is in the blue link. Do not use PC Tools or other optimizer programs or buy anything else since we keep WIn7 running perfectly with freeware here.
