Disable write access to personal folder (root location of user area)

Hi all,

Im not sure if anyone else has had this problem or noticed it, but I have enabled the GPO prevent users from adding files to the root of thier users files folder on our network as we use folder re-directs to my documents which in theory should keep everything tidy. This works up until a point, if I try and browse to the location and create a file I cant. If I try and drag a file into that location I cant, but as soon as I try to save as it lets me - any ideas why this would be?

It only affects Windows Explorer not applications using the win32 file APIs. Which is why it resides within the "Windows Explorer" group policy tree.

How to restrict write access to C: root?
I come from a linux background, where users by default have write access only in their home directories. In the Windows 7 default setup, however, I can create folders at will in the root of the C drive. Is there a way to restrict write access to the root directory?

DVD Backup - ISO saved to root folder... can't access
Hello, I was trying to backup one of my DVDs to save on my hard drive as an ISO file rather than burn it to a DVD. I used DVD Shrink to create the ISO, and it was saved as C:\DVD_Video.ISO in the C drive root folder. It is definitely there, I even rewrote it, but I am unable to see it when I...
