it's generally better to make hardware do the job - can you not make the adjustments on your monitor?

Hi Andy,
I think I know what the problem is. You are adjusting the profile correctly, and are using the adjusted profile in your current session. However, when you reboot, the settings are apparently gone and you are then using the default settings. If you read further down the Tutorial thread (the posts immediately following the Tutorial), you will find instructions on changing the profiles so that it is your settings that gets loaded instead of the default.
Thanks for that i'll give it a go

I'm having exactly the same problem on my Toshiba NB-205 mini netbook. Every time I reboot or hibernate the gamma shoots right back to the original setting, which makes everything far too bright. I REALLY appreciate the color calibrator in W7, so I'm hugely disappointed that it's not working.
I tried to fix it by selecting "use my settings for this device" in color management, but that didn't fix it.
Interestingly, when I hibernated and brought the computer back on while the color management page was open, I got this error message: "The devices page has been refreshed due to a hardware change". Following that I got a similar message stating that the color management had been refreshed because of the hardware change. Google turns up nothing on this.
What could the issue be? Why does it think I've changed hardware just because of a hibernation?
Help is greatly appreciated.
I was having the same problem. On startup my Vaio laptop display had a red hue. I would change this by going into Intel Graphics Media Accelorator properties and tweak the settings. However on Startup it would still revert to the reddy hue display.
I then used the windows calibration tool. But I would end up with an error message: "The devices page has been refreshed due to a hardware change"
I also reinstalled the drivers yet this had no effect.
In the end I did manage to fix this problem by doing the following:
CONTROL PANEL > HARDWARE AND SOUND > DEVICES AND PRINTERS
double clicking my VAIO Laptop opened up the VAIO control center.
DISPLAY> COLOUR MODE SETTING
Deselecting "Change to optimal color mode automatically"
then
Select : "Select from following color modes:"
Select: "Do not apply color mode"
This fix worked for me.
I have the same exact problem where the display color calibration resets everytime after a reboot or going into sleep. I have tried changing my color profile as the ""use my settings for this device" default setting, but it still resets after a reboot/sleep. Has anyone found a solution to this problem?

I am relieved to say I have just found the answer to this....
start > run > msconfig > startup > uncheck igfxpers.exe
