Icon sizes reset after restart and...

Heres my OS: Win 7 HP 64bit incase its useful info

My desktop icons as well as my folder icons change size back to the default Medium size after I restart my computer, and the folder icons reset as well. If I set them to say... large and close the folder and reopen it, they will be back at the default setting.Even if I go back and forth in the folders the icons will not stay the same size I set them to.

Now here is what Ive done to try and fix my issue:

While in a folder if I change the size to say medium. Go to Tools > Folder Options > View and apply this to all folders. Than no matter what size I change them too afterwards will revert to this setting. Even though I want different size icons depending on what I'm looking at.

With that said, Ive also tried to restore the defaults, that did not work.

I have followed the Icon Rebuilding tut on this website, both the .bat and the manual ways.

I have ran the Windows repair all in one as well. Which made me do a file scan and check disk.

The only thing I haven't tried is a system restore. I have also heard of malware messing up this stuff and a mention of a root kit I think it was in a post about this same issue. Just a few days ago I got rid of(I think) one. The Google redirect or something it was called differently in Malwarebytes. I used tdsskiller to get rid of it but after running Malwarebytes in safe mode saw it was still there but got rid of it again.

After going through threads and threads and different posts all over the internet something does hold up, that if I make a new user account and use that one everything works normal. Whatever I change my icon size to will stay that way when I close and reopen the folder. But I dont really want to//know how to do that and transfer all of my files from the old user to the new one and deleting the old account without fear of lost data.

Sorry for the long post, just trying to list everything Ive done and that has happened on my system for the last week.

Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit

This is my simple solution, found after a year of trying suggestions from various forums:

- Go to c:\Users\[account]\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\UsrClass.dat
- Move the UsrClass.dat to a backup folder (I used "My Documents")
- arrange your icons, restart and let the system create a new file

thanks to hypercube

for original suggestion. I screwed up his instructions and found the above solution

Reset all window positions and sizes to default?
I have a dual monitor setup. After making some changes to the orientation/positioning of the 2 monitors, I've noticed that a lot of windows are now partially or even completely offscreen. This is especially problematic with MDI programs (programs that have sub-windows inside them, like Photoshop's...
