Toshiba Windows 7 Computer suddenly stuck on "Starting Windows"

Hi, since this isn't exactly related to my last problem, I decided to post this in a different thread. Previously, my computer was having random freezes and it would have a slow startup time. I was able to get past this by performing a clean startup and changing some programs and when they start up. This was about 3 months ago. Today, I turned on my computer and after about 6 minutes, I noticed that my computer was stuck on the "Starting Windows" screen. The little animation would go, and the windows logo would show... but that's just about it. After running startup repair, I ran into the same problem, and couldn't get to my login screen. There's no black screen or BSOD, it just simply stays on the Starting Windows page.
Now, it might or might not be a Hard Drive issue, but I'm able to run an OS called Ubuntu on the same hard drive right at this moment. (I've had it installed for a few months now.) I haven't made any recent changes to Windows 7, it simply started to hang randomly, this morning. If anyone could help with this problem, it'd be pretty helpful!

Edit: After I changed the startup programs, I was still having inconsistent freezes over the three months. I believe it might be related to Flash or Audio, since it always freezes when I'm listening to something on youtube.

Work through these steps for Troubleshooting Windows 7 Failure to Boot.

Is this still the Toshiba factory preinstall? There's a reason most tech enthusiasts won't run the bloated factory preinstall but instead prefer to Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 to get best performance.

    Update on problem

Following those steps didn't do much, though on my own, I've been trying to figure out what the problem is so I could figure out how to solve it. It seems that whenever I unplug my headphones from my computer before starting it up, or just by luck, I get past the Windows is Loading screen. I also noticed that whenever I load Ubuntu, the computer loads fine. I don't know if it's the hard drive or not, but I hope it's not.

This problem isn't exactly solved, but I am able to slightly use my computer again. I've had freezing issues, which were fixed with Select Startup, and boot issues, which are inconsistent... and now I'm having memory issues. It seems this is directly related to Windows Defender, even though it's not what's always using up my memory. Whenever I stop the SVCHost related to Windows Defender, the memory usage goes from 99% down to 25%, even though my computer still experiences slight freezes even though memory/cpu are both around 20%. I don't understand why it's doing this, and it would be nice to figure it out.

I did notice that Memory started getting used after I installed SplashTop Streamer. I don't think uninstalling it helped much on the memory side of things, though it is something I noticed.

Since there are so many problems, I don't know where to continue with this, or what kind of problem to even call it. It could be a Hard Drive beginning to fail, or a driver conflict, or a bad program installation. Or it could be an audio issue, I've been having trouble with audio since I got this new computer. It could even be a conflict between Windows Defender and Avast, even though I don't have Defender do anything.

What should I do from here?

Replace Avast and Defender with Microsoft Security Essentials.

You said you followed the steps but still have the same AV. Did you do the Clean Reinstall too? Having a baselined perfect reinstall and sticking with the recommended tools and methods will likely solve your problems, or make it clear what is the problem.
