Select a file to Preview pane in Open

    Hi all

    I need some help.

Just of late im having a little problem with Select a file to Preview pane in Open ( when opening a file with another program other than windows)
I want to close this as i dont need the preview pane, especially in open
Normal windows are fine and the option to turn preview on and of can be found in Organise/ Layout.
Unfortunately this is not the case on the open window while opening a file in this example Nero....... Organise/ Layout in this window does not have the option to turn the preview pane off
So how do i do this?

    Hello Ripbox,

Since the preview pane is a universal setting for those type of dialogs, a workaround may be to open Notepad, and click on File -> Open, turn off the preview pane, and close Notepad. It should change it for all "Open" type dialogs afterwards as well.

    Hope this helps. :)

    Thanx Brink

I was actually able to do the above when i was attaching the JPG to the board but at the time it still hadn't taken effect with the above example, iv followed your instructions and the preview pain has been disabled, it just seems now after several that certain programs simply force the preview pain without the option to disable it as in the Nero example above.
It would be nice to be able to overide the preview pain in such programs however since the preview pain is now gone in 90% of what i use and in basic windows applications, im now happy and can deal with the rest, so i will mark this as solved
though is you know how to bypass where the program forces the preview pain then it would be greatly appreciated :)

    You're welcome.

Not sure there's much you can do about the program issue unles it may have a setting for it, or if it may stick when turned off like the others as well.
