Show number of instances of a program open?

In Windows XP and Vista, there was a feature, so if multiple instances of a program were open, it would show how many are open (in numbers) on the taskbar. This feature is gone in Windows 7.
Is there any way to get it? (through a download or through settings.)

What if you have 300 Windows open? Or maybe more realistically 79, are you going to count all of them?
I'm looking for, as in numbers.

fair point, i rarely have more than four pages open on any program,so i suppose its what works for you.

it may be doable using classic shell but thats just a guess.
its not overly apparent from the site but maybe you could try it and see.

    Thanks, but another thing -

You seem to have 4 icons in one taskbar icon.
    How do you that?
