See what windows does at startup and while logging off

to see what windows is doing before logging off navigate to
'HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System', in the registry, create a DWORD value called 'verbosestatus' and set it to 1
(u might want to try this if ur comp is taking too long to shutdown or start)

Mine gives me the option of creating a DWORD (32 bit) value, or a QWORD (64 bit) value.

On a x64 bit os should I create a QWORD instead?

does this also work for Vista? Because I'm not sure what this is exactly supposed to be looking like.

should work on vista. (instead of showing "Shutting Down...." it will show "Stopping services" and maybe something more)

Set it up, but seen no real difference. Not sure if it is because my OS is x64. Maybe it should be QWORD vise DWORD. Will attempt using the QWORD.

Changed the DWORD to QWORD in the 64 bit OS, and it made a difference, however, it is only about five seconds for both Start/Restart, and Shutdown. Albeit, thanks for the tip. :)
