    Samsung R530 Identity Issues

    Hiya guys,

I hope someone out there can help. I had a problem where my laptop had crashed and stopped working so ultimately I had to do a total reinstall back to factory settings. Anyway I thought I had a back up disk and installed it. BIG MISTAKE it turned out that the disk was a back up for my old Advent computer. So now I have my old Advent computer with Vista on my Samsung.

Is there anyway I can rectify this and get it back to the Samsung with windows 7? I realise now that I never had a recovery disk for the samsung computer. There is no samsung recovery solution on the computer, as like I said the computer is suffering identity issues and thinks it's an Advent computer. Yes i'm an amateur and slightly embarrassed so any help would be greatly appreciated.

You could download an ISO image file of your particular version of Windows 7 and do a clean install with that as you should have the Licence Key for Win 7 on the underside of you laptop!. Follow gregrockers tutorial here:

May I just remind youof one important point. It does tell you this in he tutorial but just make sure you get the driver for your lan card so that when you finish the install you can install that driver and connect to the internet for Win 7 to find your other drivers if necessary. Good luck with the install. Always come back here if you get stuck anywhere. Don't be tempted to gloss over a problem and just carry on. If you have the slightest problem post it here.

I've managed to install Windows however i'm still having issues restoring everything back to original settings. I accidently deleted my Samsung Recovery Solution 4 so when i try i get "There is no Samsung Recovery area on your hard disk drive. Setup will be cancelled" Any idea on what i can do besides stop being so stupid? As i couldn't see anything helping in this scenario.

If you have done a clean install and closely followed the guide then what do you mean " i'm still having issues restoring everything back to original settings" What exactly are you trying to do? If you have a pristine install and everything is working OK what more do you want?
