What to do with 32 GB ram....

I'm poor and need more ram please

I'll make sure the MOBO will handle up to 32 GB but I won't waste money on any more than 8 GB RAM until I actually need more. When I get the 8 GB, I'll just make sure I use only half of the slots so I hopefully can expand by just adding more of the same sticks.
You could use your computer as a HTPC, playing videos and music while you work.
Ya i wish the 8 GB sticks were out when i built my system last year. I was just going to stay at 16 GB, but only 4gb sticks avail then so i got 4 sticks, now 8gb sticks are out and then they went on sale.... i orginally saw them a few months ago for like at least $30 more for 2x8gb and wasn't going to get them but then now with the sale, i couldn't help it..... i have a feeling this 32 gb will be more than enough till DDR4 is mainstream. at least i hope so... As i said, i never use more than 7gb yet and always have at least a dozen windows open.. I was hoping that i can somehow trick win7 into using it like a big hd cache.

the only machines that really need so much ram or more are servers, at the moment.
Other than making a ramdisk, I see little use for common people. Maybe in the future, or for those days when you want to do photoshop on 50+ megapixel images, play the most intensive game AND assemble a movie with HD IMAX-grade video at the same time.
I don't ask you to donate me your memory just because it won't fit on my stone age rig.

It's a wasted upgrade because it won't be used. Nothing on a desktop will need that much memory. Just because something is on sale...doesn't mean it's a good buy. That money could have been used elsewhere, or put towards another component.
In the future, before throwing money at something, do your research to see if it's worthwhile.

Since you already bought it on sale, i suggest to keep them now and let in place.
Go buy a ultra super game that load a lot of memory and Sli your G.Cards, enjoy your time!!

Take half of your ram out and you got the beginning of another computer. All kidding aside, you will probably not use it all now or in the future. It doesn't hurt anything. I can assure you I have spent money on many things that were not the wises decisions I ever made. Kind of like putting a 8 1/2 x 25 Leupold on a Daisy BB gun.

well, i had 16 GB ram before which was more than enough, but then i saw the memory on sale so i was like well, i should buy it and maybe just sell the old 16 GB kit. i figure it would be like useful for running benchmarks and pi calculations. But was just wondering if i can make more use of it everyday....
Sorry, it was just a poor joke...
No, not a poor one. I was going to say the same thing.

So I finally got 32 GB ram on my core i7 2600K.
What should i do with all this extra ram? is there like some kind of ramdisk to cache hard drive or anything i can do to make good use of the memory regularly even when I am using most programs which does not even use more than 4gb?
I noticed in your System Specs it says you have a 16 GB SSD. I have seen those advertised and always wondered what they could be used for. What do you use yours for?

Sorrry was trying to fit all the 3 computers in. wish the profile allows multiple computers instead of just one. most people got more than 1 computers nowaday anyway. the 16 GB SSD is for the tablet. 890 has 16 GB ram with both desktops just using regular hd right now
