If the HD light is on solid during this event, then it is caused by the "Storage Drivers". Try updating them from the Intel (If intel chip set) or Asus web site.

If HD light is on solid AND you have an SSD, turn off Natve Command Queing in the hardware manager on the SATA channel your SSD is connected too.

    BIOS

    pizzafoundry and Durandal ,

You guys are a god-send, as I just inherited one of this exact same mobo and upon Win7 install was getting exact same things as you observed. I have tried the powerplan change, and so far it's not hung again, for longer time than ever before....

But that is not my reason for adding a new post. You mentioned a BIOS update, 1.1, for this and when I followed the links or searched for it, they all lead to a 404 sites, so I can't get it. I hoped that maybe one of you downloaded and saved it, even after all this time, and might be willing to share?

Hopefully you still get email notification of this old thread..... :)

    Hi hawkia,

Looks like ECS redesigned their site. The product page is still there, but their navigation is broken so you can't get to it without searching google. Here it is:

    ECS Web Site

Should have links to all manuals, BIOS, drivers, etc. Good luck.
