Is there any hope in moving Win7 HDD to a new home?

    That was true with XP, but we're talking about Windows 7. When you can download the .iso file from a legit source to use with your legit license key, there's no excuse not to have the install media.

    When a person is legit all the way around, a clean install is always an option.

    True but 7 hrs ago in the part of the US the OP resides it was 2am (Sorry I said 3am before, miscalculation.)

    How would we know what "newer" options you require since we dont' know exactly what you've tried?

    There are several freeware and paid methods to move an OS from one PC to another:

    You can SysPrep to move HD to another computer then transfer a backup image to the other PC using freeware like Macrium to Image your system.

    You can transfer the image then boot free Paragon Virtualization Manager CD (previously named Paragon Adaptive Restore) to adjust the image to boot on the new hardware.

    Or you can purchase and use Acronis True Image with Universal Restore (2010 and later) to adjust the image as you are reimaging it onto the new HD.

    Please explain which of these methods recommended here you have tried and how exactly they failed.

    I think the universal time for the Forum is as stated "All times are GMT +1."
    I don't think the Forum software would be capable of adjusting for all the other time zones that exist. What I believe is that when we look at this thread and see that post #19 says 2 hours ago then in a different time zone it will say 2 hours ago. I could be wrong but I belong to a Forum that is based in Taiwan and the timing bear this theory out!

    EDIT: Perhaps as we have gone way off topic we should continue this by PM or start a thread on the Chill Out Forum?
