    Computer won't boot windows

Hello, hopefully this is in the right area. I am having an issue with my Windows 7 64 bit laptop. I did an update and pressed the “restart now” to let the changes take effect, when it restarted it got to the “starting windows” screen but it stopped there for a while then flashed a blue screen quickly. Then it restarted itself and goes to a menu that says “windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause…” I have two options “ Launch Startup repair (recommended)” or “start windows normally”. When I choose the Launch startup repair it says “windows is loading files” and then it shows a black screen with a mouse cursor, I can move the cursor but nothing loads. Any ideas how I can fix this?

Try safe mode and see whether you can make a system restore to before that update. I assume you have no images. With images you could fix it in no time.

If I press F8 during the boot up process it goes into "Advanced Boot Options" if I click "Safe mode" at the top it says "loading windows files" at the bottom it says "Please wait" and it has a list of .sys files that loaded, but it stays there for awhile then briefly shows a blue screen then reboots back into "windows error recovery". If I go back into F8-Advanced boot options and click "Last known good configuration (advanced)" it says "starting windows" but quickly shows a blue screen then reboots.

I assume I dont have images either as I don't know what images are.
