How do I get rid of these white box in desktop icons?

When I turned my laptop on there were these icons in the bottom left. Does anyone know how to fix it?

I would try this sevenforums tutorial first.> Icon Cache - Rebuild

    Follow Option One.

As Brink explains it resets and rebuilds the cache.
It is easiest to try first.

Let us know if it works.

They don't look to be Shortcuts as there is no Arrow. But then they may be shortcuts and the Arrow icon overlay has gone missing.
Are all the Shortcuts on your desktop like those 3 you posted a picture of?
If they are shortcuts just delete them then replace them from the start menu, All Programs area.

Thanks for the quick reply but that didn't seem to work. I also tried deleting the icons and creating a new shortcut but that didn't work either. Neither did trying to change the icon picture.

Did you do a restart/reboot after the Icon cache Rebuild?

Sometimes the icons will come back right.
    Worth a try.

I requested some extra help also.
