Appears to be a date kill on the RTM

I just got a new laptop and tried to install x86 7600 from my jump drive. It fails at 'cannot finish copying ...... " some file name. Thought the problem was the jump drive so reinstalled on it. Retried and same thing about not copying files. Changed the date on the laptop and now it installs just fine. Anyone else notice this?

oh that is real cute MS... since I rolled the BIOS back on the date, the installed files previous on the laptop were newer than that date. There was a blue screen on NTFS.sys .. rebooted and W7 uninstalled on a 'rollback update' ..

What are we suppose to do until Oct 22 to get the public release?

If this is the copy of Win7 you're using ---> WIN 7 Ultimate 7127 RC
It really isn't the 'valid' RC

Its 7600.. I have installed it countless times over the last 30 days to a tablet PC. I have purchased 5 LE1600's and one of them is a resistive touch screen that had issues anyway and I just got it working this week. Now trying to install with the W7 jump drive that i have used on all of them fails. Its a date thing. I just wish MS would have made the date Oct 22.. unless I missed a boat where i can get a new public release of ultimate today.

If you have a paid TechNet or MSDN subsciption, then you can get the RTM.

The RTM on MSDN was the leaked version anyway in July I thought? With the re-arm its makes sense that there is kill to the install itself by date too. Just wish it would have been set for Oct 22.. I will DL the enterprise version and try it.

Well, turns out it is a hardware issue. The LE1600TS ( resistive touch screen ) is not compatible with the Window 7 install at all. Since the date roll back even by installing XP first was not working, I figured I would just pull the harddrive from the TS model and put it in one of the View anywhere models, and sure enough, the install went perfect as always.

Bad thing is putting the harddrive back in the TS model is getting the resistive touch working with W7 now.
