    All files have .ink extension and won't open ( Quick Reply!


    I tried opening an .INK file with paint as a i have no application to open it with and afterwords i cant open any more .exe files. all icons look like paint and i don't knwo what else to do. i have seen alot of tutorials and i get onto Regedit but i get confused after words.

    Hello Pedro,

    You could download and merge the .reg file for the listed lnk (LNK) and exe options in the tutorial below to restore their default associations and hopefully fix this for you.

    Clicking on the tutorial link in my post above will give you step by step instructions on how. :)

    It will not affect if you have known file extentions set to show to hide.

    what do i do now after isntalling the 'hide know file names' .reg file, i still,cant open the files

    i complete everything in the forum and even after a shut-down and a cold boot everything starts up with paint. only diffrence is that the files like skype are shown up like this 'skype.ink'

    If this just happened recently, then you may also be able to do a system restore using a restore point (if available) dated before this happened to fix it.
