    Can't delete autorun.inf


    I can't delete autorun.inf says I need permission from TrustedInstaller to make changes to this file...

    Hello Albalma,

    You could use step 2 in OPTION THREE in the tutorial below to take ownership of and set permissions to "Allow" your user account "full control" of the autorun.inf. Afterwards, you should be able to delete it.

    If not, then you try using the free program Unlocker to delete it with.

    Solved


    I had the same issue because of Symantec Endpoint Prevention


    • Open a command prompt by clicking Start | Run | type "cmd.exe" within the Open field and press Ok/Enter.
    • Type the following commands on the command line:
      • cd "c:\Program Files (x86)\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection"
      • smc.exe -stop

    • You now can access the file
      My Computer
