Gateway nv 53 won't turn on

I push the power button.
The fan comes on but turns off in 5sec.
The disc drive checks if there is a disk.
The hard drive turns on and stays on (i can hear it).
The power light turns on (blue) red and blue if battery is in (charging)
No on data light and display.
Usually the data light blinks as soon as I press power button.

Anyone experienced something like this?
I took the hard drive off fan on, disk check , no display.
I used external monitor nothing. (Hdmi)

I tried turning it on again this time. no fan, disk check, hard drive turns on, laptop turns off.

It sounds like ther may be a problem with the laptop lid/screen. It's almost like your computer thinks the lid is still closed and it wants to go into or stay in a sleep or hibernate condition.

I also had this problem with a Dell laptop. I turned it off and it would not turn on. My solution was to extend the laptop screen as far back as it will go. Don't just stop the screen at a ninety degree angle. My laptop screen opens up to about 135 degrees. Now press the power button. It might start up. If it does, I think the reason has to do with the connection between the screen and laptop base.

The connection between screen and base is relative short. When the lid is closed the connection is under maximum stress and tends to pull away breaking the connection. The computer thinks the lid is still closed. The more open the lid, the less stress on the connector and sometimes, with reduced stress, it will slip back into place.

Another possibility is when the lid is closed a small pin or button switch (usually located above the top row of the keyboard) gets depressed and that's what puts the laptop into sleep or hibernate mode. Dirt or other debris can cause that switch to stick in the closed position.

I'll have to find where that pin is located on this keyboard.
I tried extending the lid but same thing.
I powered it on with the battery and it stayed on fan and hdd. I noticed if I press the volume keys(on top of keboard)
They keep blinking a while after. They usually blink only once...

I took pc to local pc tech shop.
got it back tech Guy said mobo dead.
He Said he swapped processors and same symptoms.
Tried different video outputs. nothing.
Are those symptoms of a bad mobo?

A motherboard allows all the parts of your computer to receive power and communicate with one another. So a bad mobo can certainly affect other parts of the computer. The processor (CPU) is just one part of a modern mobo. Other parts include RAM slots, chipset, BIOS, connections for video and audio, USB ports, hard drive interface, etc. A power surge, for example, can destroy the electical connectivity requiring that the entire mobo be replaced.

What is a Motherboard?

Depending on how much it would cost to replace the mobo (actual cost of replacement unit, then the technician's time and labor to install and test) it could be cheaper to buy a new machine. Especially if it turns out that other parts were damaged as well.
