EXE files won't launch

    It looks I'm back up and running the way I used to be. So far . . . I think.

    The solution was resetting the registry entries for default action for .exe and .bat file.

    I'm currently running MalwareBytes and another program to see if I have any strange infections.

    Fixed my problem


    Thank you so much for finding this solution. I clicked on Default File Type Associations - Restore and that solved all my problems. Whenever I ran any .exe on my system, it would only run the "Download Dialog Box" for any program. So, I could not do anything at all and couldn't find any help. I found this, ran the .exe reg fix and everything now works!! Thank you!!!!

Wont launch files from server

I have a computer network set up, and as of yesterday it was launching a .bat file off of my server, but this morning the file will not launch. I have checked my connection and the file sharing is all still working. does anyone have any ideas on how to diagnose this problem?
In Windows XP I could select multiple files (and types) in Windows Explore and ENTER would launch all of them. For example, I could select an XLS file and a VSD file, press ENTER, the spreadsheet would open in Excel and the drawing in Visio. How do I make this great functionality work in...
I now have these quick launch buttons working but I was wondering how can I change the defaut programns they open. e.g. The email button opens Outlook but I want it to open Windows Live Mail. REP will be given.
