IE9 & Microsoft Flight Simulator, NVIDIA GUI's slow to load
The PC I am having issues with is primarily used for flight simulation and I use it to download program addons and drivers from trusted sites. I do not use the PC to browse the web.
I was using IE9 to update a graphics driver and noticed IE9 was very slow to load, pressing the X to exit I received a message saying the program was not responding. Installation of the NVIDIA graphics driver was also slow as the user interface did not respond as it normally does, once again I received a message saying the program was not responding.
I booted to safe mode with networking and wouldn't you know it the computer ran fine. IE9 loaded the homepage in normal time and the NVIDIA GUI ran in normal fashion.
I typed msconfig and selected the Services tab and placed a checkmark in "Hide all Microsoft services", everything was stopped.
I rebooted back to Windows 7 and typed "services.msc" and tried stopping a few programs, the programs that were runnning were:
Adobe Acrobat Update Service
AtherosSvc by Atheros Communications
AVTHHelper by Avatron Software
CrossLoop Service
MBAMService by MalwareBytes Corp
NVIDIA Update Service Daemon
Steam Client Service by Valve Corp
TightVNC Server by GlavSoft LLC.
IE9 was still slow to load, however Google Chrome is not affected. I am not sure if it is a non windows program, I tried disabling Microsoft Security Essentials but that had no effect on the issue.
I ran a full check using MSE and MalwareBytes and the results were negative. I uninstalled Adobe PDF Viewer, MalwareBytes, CrossLoop and a couple of other programs that I no longer use.
I am really stumped on this one and would appreciate any help.
Thanks,
Robert
